Centreville's Varsity dominated the Oakton Cougars, taking 21 shots on goal compared to Oakton's 4. However, Oakton's ability to mark up on defense inside the circle meant that the Wildcats connected on only one of those shots throughout the whole game. Oakton made it on the scoreboard first, with 9 minutes remaining in the game, when their first shot on goal in the game got past the Wildcat defenders. Centreville fought back and tied the score with 4 minutes remaining in the game, when a long hit by Vicky LaLiberte was passed inside the circle from Alex Peterson to Haili Hartman for the goal.
