Varsity Closes Regular Season with a Loss, 3-0

In the first half, the Centreville defense turned away all but one of Fairfax's 6 penalty corners and 11 shots on goal. Fairfax's Lisa Charney scored on a penalty corner 10 minutes into the first half. Meanwhile, Centreville was awarded only one penalty corner in the half and a single shot on goal.

Centreville goalie Carolyn Macek got a piece of Charney's second shot, 7 minutes into the second half, but the ball bounced off Macek's pads, up and over, to land in the goal. Fairfax's third goal came with 12 minutes left in the game, on a penalty stroke, awarded when Macek dove onto a rebounded save in the midst of numerous Rebels. The stroke was scored by Fairfax's Shelby Storosh, with a lift into the upper right corner of the goal.

The Centreville defense did a great job of keeping Fairfax to 0 penalty corners and just 4 shots on goal in the second half. Meanwhile, the Wildcat offense kept trying to convert on a fast break, taking 3 penalty corners andl 2 shots on goa in the half. Solid determination in the dribbling and passing was displayed by Molly MacDonnell, Haili Hartman, Stacey McCormack, Alex Peterson, Alex McAuliffe, Katie Russell, and Sasha Rocke. Great defensive efforts were made by Katy Kelly, Susie Lesniewski, Vicky LaLiberte, Annie Paradis, Rachel Behne, and Emily Bollman. Goalkeeper Macek tallied 12 saves in the game.
